Last week, we told you about the comments Microsoft’s Kinect boss Kudo Tsunoda made when he said that Kinect would “blow away” the iPad’s sales numbers.

Apparently, this isn’t the most outrageous thing that he thinks or says. In an interview with Game Informer, Tsunoda said,

Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first-person shooters on the PC anymore.

Seriously? This is where we are in promoting consoles now?

I guess that all those folks playing Bad Company 2 on PC aren’t actually there. Not to mention the legions of players that are busy devouring titles like Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, or whatever Valve game they prefer. Oh, and all you gamers playing the Modern Warfare games? You apparently don’t count either.

Shooters are based on the PC, and they are still huge there. That’s not to discount the success that shooters have had on consoles. Both platforms have successful games on them in the FPS genre. Games like Halo, Resistance, and others have brought console shooters into the mainstream.

You’d think that an employee of Microsoft, the company that helped drive the rise of PC gaming, would be a wee bit more solicitous to their playerbase. Still, it’s possible that the PC gaming wing of the company has no idea what the Kinect wing is saying. I’m sure they’ll be happy when they find out.

At any rate, we’ll keep an ear to the ground and see if Tsunoda has anything else to say, assuming someone at MS doesn’t muzzle him.
