Posted on January 24, 2014, Mike Sharkey Kingdom Come: Deliverance Hit Kickstarter Goal in 36 Hours
They managed to do it in just 36 hours, in fact, and with 27 days left in the crowdfunding campaign, Deliverance has more than 11,000 backers and $547,000 worth of contributions. Of note: Warhorse has already sold 99 of its 100 $960 tier pledges, which include a hand-forged sword with a personal inscription. Evidently a lot of people want to play with real swords just as much as digital ones.
“That’s really, absolutely, mind-blowingly thrilling,” Warhorse said of the rapid success in a Kickstarter update. “We cannot stress strongly enough how grateful we are to all of you. This resounding confirmation of what we’ve been working on for almost two years just makes everything worthwhile. We are happy — and privileged — to be working on this project and we want to make the best possible game we can, for you.”
So, tell us Warhorse, what are you going to do with the extra money that has already come in and will continue to pile up over the next 27 days? Stretch goals. The devs didn’t outline any in their pitch, which I appreciated (why put the medieval cart before the horse?), but they will be revealed starting sometime later today.
Congrats to the folks at Warhorse. Looking forward to seeing more of Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
