Kingdom Hearts Series Director Tetsuya Nomura along with Producer Shinji Hashimoto surprised a crowd of Kingdom Hearts fans today at the Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix launch event, held at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, by revealing a small tease of the long awaited third entry in the series.
Because the game is still too early on in development to actually show off the worlds that players will be visiting, the tease was mostly limited to concept art and character animations. One moment of note was an animation that saw Sora transforming his Keyblade into dual pistols, and another one that transformed it into a gigantic beam canon.
We also saw some concept art for what looked to be a revamped Land of Departure as well as a display of some pretty impressive lighting and physics as Sora wandered around a study, bathing in a light glow of sunlight coming out from the window, with cloth curtains gently flowing with the breeze. The camera also panned across what appeared to be chess pieces sitting on the window sill.
In all, the teaser lasted no more than a minute, but was enough to get crowd of fans roaring in applause upon its conclusion. Unfortunately, no video recording was allowed, so unless someone sneaky managed to snag a video, the footage will forever be locked away in the minds of those who attended the event.
