Activision have confirmed and showed off a brand new weapon modding system for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare called Gunsmithing, which will let players create customized weapons for their primary and secondary in multiplayer.
The company confirmed that players will be able to customize up to five different parts of their weapons, and for one example given, you could potentially take an assault rifle and give it a custom muzzle, laser or optical scopes, new grips, larger magazine's and more.

You can see from the video that you can make many different combinations of different scopes, muzzles and grips, for example.
David Hodgeson explained on the official blog exactly what to expect;
You can customize up to five parts of each weapon, until your available slots are filled. With Assault rifles, for example, you usually have nine areas of the weapon to augment: The Muzzle, Lasers, Optic, Stock, Rear Grip, Magazine, Underbarrel, Barrel, or a Perk. Choose wisely.
There's going to be a huge reveal of the game and various features on August 1st on the official Twitch channel, so stay tuned to GameFront for more news as we learn it.
