Monster Hunter World Mod fixes HDR & adds new features

Ah, high dynamic range. It's all the rage these days with the high end gaming monitors, and it's aim is to provide a more realistic difference between blacks and whites, to allow bright objects to be as bright as they can be while allowing blacks to remain both dark and preserve object detail.

It's kind of annoying therefore that Monster Hunter World has a somewhat broken implementation of HDR. Thankfully, modder Kaldaien has come to the rescue with this mod that not only implements a fix, but also introduces some other useful tools, such as the ability to take screenshots without the HUD.

Unfortunately, the creation of the mod as been a bittersweet experience for Kaldaien, who has suffered roadblocks in creating it due to the heavy DRM in the game, as he wrote on the mod's Steam page;

I do not know if this is a part of Denuvo that has never been used before or if it's actually a trumped up ad-hoc solution from people who have no business imposing restrictions on the consumer. Anti-debug / anti-mod is always bad, but it's exponentially worse when done by amateurs who do not have the necessary experience to ensure their stupid charade doesn't do more harm to the customer than benefit (is there any?) to the publisher.

But despite these issues, the mod has several fixes for HDR and other related issues, including;

  • HUDless screenshots
  • Texture/button mods
  • Pre-HUD ReShade
  • Fixes for fullscreen exclusive problems the engine has
