Things that are amazing: LG’s new Optimus 2X, which the company says will be so f—ing powerful, it’ll allow players using the handset to engage in games against people playing on consoles and PCs over a WiFi connection.

Yes, I’m getting my wish for 2011, and it’s not even the end of January. Thanks be to Donovan, God of Gaming my friends made up when we were 12.

A report over at Ripten shows a demo from CES 2011 in Las Vegas that has players on the same game using three different devices: the Android-running Optimus, a Playstation  3 and a PC. They’re all playing Dungeon Defenders from indie developer Trendy Entertainment — which appears on all three platforms, plus Apple’s iDevices.

We don’t have a date or price on the Optimus 2X, although it sounds like it should be getting a release in the next month or so.

Ripten also had the specs for the uberphone:

  • 4-inch WVGA screen
  • 8GB memory (up to 32GB via microSD)
  • 1,500 mAh battery
  • 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front camera
  • True HDMI mirroring
  • 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 playback and recording
