New Luminous Engine Demo shows 'path tracing' graphics

Luminous Engine, the engine behind Final Fantasy 15, has released a new technical demo on YouTube this past week showing off what it calls 'path tracing', a new, cutting edge technology that will take ray tracing to the next level.

This new technology, presented on the GeForce RTX YouTube Channel and fully compatible with RTX cards, although still in early development, really gives us a glimpse into just what the future of graphics technology holds, and it truly is stunning.

The demo isn't related to Final Fantasy in any way, but it does show off various lovely lighting effects that really make the environment shown here to be stunningly realistic.

Luminous Studio head Takeshi Aramaki stated;

GeForce RTX graphics cards have power beyond our imagination, and with Nvidia’s technology even real-time path tracing has become a reality. Together with Luminous Engine and RTX technology, we have taken one more step forward towards the kind of beautiful and realistic game that we strive to create

The demo above is apparently running on an RTX 2080 Ti card, which is the highest end RTX card on the market right now, but in the next 10 years as the technology becomes more widely available, it's exciting to know that this is what the future of gaming could look like.
