Now you can play Resident Evil 4 remake in first-person thanks to this new mod

The Resident Evil franchise has bounced back and forth between various different camera viewpoints over its long and storied history. The traditional and perhaps most-loved of these is the third-person over-the-shoulder view, but personally, I'm pretty fond of the first-person perspective that proved wildly successful in Resident Evil VII and Village.

It seems I'm not alone in this, as modder elsuperaguas has now released a beta version of his First Person Perspective mod, that does a fantastic job of converting the game into a super-tense FPS horror experience.

While the mod shifts the camera perspective, Leon's model and animations are still present, and his movement doesn't appear to have changed much, so the result is a somewhat slower-paced experience compared to many FPS games, although one that lends itself well to the tense atmosphere of a Resident Evil game. It's pretty similar to the experience from VII / Village, which is right up my alley.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is this game isn't designed to be a first-person shooter, so expect some extra stress from hazards that you can normally see being out of your field of view.

You can grab the mod now from here, but you'll also need a few other mods to make the experience work correctly, including this mod to make Leon's head disappear, the Laser for every handgun mod, and the Invisible Weird Headgears mod. You'll also need the Headless Main Characters mod if you want to play as Ashley or The Mercenaries. You can find the details and links to these on the mod page above.
