I recently built a new PC to play, among other things, Battlefield 3. That was $800 right there. It was money well spent, I’d say, but we’ll know for sure next week when we’re playing BF3 for real.
I’m not the only one who spent a good bit of change on PC upgrades this year, and a lot of folks are doing that expressly for Battlefield 3, apparently. So says analyst Ted Pollak:
Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 will help sales of Xbox 360s and PS3s. More importantly, and rarely covered by the press, Battlefield 3 is driving upwards of a billion dollars in PC builds and upgrades this year alone. No other title since Crytek’s Crysis had such an anticipatory impact on PC hardware sales.
That’s absolutely killer and not surprising given that a $1,000 investment in video cards is required if you wanna play on max settings. Everybody’s gotta get ready for this beast, amirite?
