Posted on August 2, 2012, Matt Hughes Play Browser-Based Spelunky for Free
For those just discovering Spelunky on Xbox 360 for $15, you may be surprised to know that it’s been a freeware PC game since 2008. And thanks to Darius Kazemi at tinysubversions.com, you can play that original game for free right now, right in your browser.
Unfortunately, this version is currently without sound, but Kazemi created this port in only three hours; I don’t think we’ll have to wait too long for some 8-bit audio goodness. And did we mention that it $15 cheaper than the $15 version on Xbox Live?
Given that Spelunky doesn’t use save points, we can’t think of a better way to waste a few minutes here and there before getting extremely frustrated and declaring Spelunky the worst game of all time, then eagerly jumping back into it in an effort to progress further.
