It's not the first time that somebody has created a Pokémon experience within Minecraft, but the concept of a playable Game Boy game within the block building game has now resulted in the entireity of Pokémon Red being playable.
Mr. Squishy has spent the last 21 months working on the mod, coding the entire game block by block. Interestingly, it will work without any game mods other than a texture pack for the sprites. Looking behind the giant GBA reveals a massive span of over 357,000 blocks that make up the entire game, each one a command block containing the 357,000 lines of code.
The game is completely represented, with stats, animations, attacks and effects, every town and area, all seems functional.
Despite this, Mr. Squishy says he isn't entirely pleased with the code behind it, stating he feels it isn't as elegant as he would like. We would like to disagree, however, what he has done here is nothing short of phenominal.
