Sony has announced that since the console’s launch in November 2006, 70 million PlayStation 3 units have been sold worldwide. There are presently over 3,590 games published for the PS3, with over 595 million units sold worldwide.

The PlayStation Move motion controller system has sold 15 million units since its launch in September 2010 and is now supported by over 400 compatible titles.

In September, Sony released of the Super Slim model of the PS3, which is the smallest and most energy-efficient version to date while still boasting the largest HDD sizes.

The PlayStation Network launched alongside the PlayStation 3 in November 2006 and now operates in 59 territories, offering 170,000 pieces of downloadable content. Only 57,000 of those DLC pieces are game-related; the rest are entertainment applications including movies, music and sports. The PlayStation store was re-launched in October in Europe, South America and the US.
