The PlayStation 4 is the bestselling console in North America for the ninth month straight.
That, at least, is the claim of the NPD Group’s latest report breaking down video game related sales in the region. While the sales numbers themselves have yet to be released, the NPD’s report claimed that the PS4 had again claimed the top spot. Sony would likewise issue a statement affirming the console’s continued status as the current king of console sales.
The PS4 capturing the top spot again will likely come as a surprise to some. Microsoft, in September, had been pushing the Xbox One hard with attractive bundles and a temporary promotional deal offering buyers a free game when they purchased the console. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter even went as far to predict that the Xbox One would outsell the PS4 by as many as 75,000 units.
Not everything in the report was surprising, though. Destiny, released at the beginning of September, was the top selling piece of software for the month.
