Redfall is getting one final offline mode update, despite Arkane Austin closing it's doors

It's bittersweet news for fans of Redfall and the team who created it, who have confirmed the game is getting one last update.

Game  Update 4 promises to add an offline mode, revamp Neighbourhood and Nest systems, and allow pausing in single-player, along with a bunch of fixes of general improvements.

Arkane long prioritized releasing an Offline Mode patch for the game, even before it was released in 2023. However, the studio behind the title, Arkane Austin, fell victim to Microsoft's huge studio cuts and closures, and everybody assumed that was that. Reports had cast doubt on the release of Redfall's final update and the promised offline mode, but it seems the situation has evolved due to a change in plans or confusion internally about the update.

The studio took to X to thank fans, adding that they "are working to release our final update, Game Update 4, that brings revamped Neighborhood and Nest systems, Single Player Pausing, Offline Mode, and more. We’ll provide additional details soon. Thank you all"

Despite the hurdles the game has faced since it's disappointing launch last year, I'm glad that Redfall will be getting this playable offline mode. Game preservation is important to us here at GameFront - even for the stinkers, which often gain a small but dedicated fanbase over time.
