Back in September, a deleted support post from the Rockstar website teased that first person support was coming to Grand Theft Auto 5. Now Rockstar Games has finally confirmed the mode’s existence, unveiling its features for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions of the game.
“Exclusive to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto V,” Rockstar wrote, “this new mode gives players the chance to explore the world of Los Santos and Blaine County directly through the eyes of their character, revealing all the world’s glorious details in an entirely new way.”
From the sounds of things, this new first-person mode doesn’t just shift the camera into your character’s heads. Rockstar has designed new first person cover and targeting systems, altered game animations, and tweaked the controls to a more traditional FPS layout. And that’s on top of a visual upgrade to 1080p for PS4 and Xbox One platforms, with 4K for PC. Sure, GTAV still hits your eyeballs at 30 frames per second, but it should be enough to get fans excited. All features will also be carried over to GTA Online as well.
The first person GTA perspective lands on the PS4 and Xbox One on Nov. 18, 2014. PC players will get their version of the game on Jan. 27.
