The long-awaited sequel to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise was voted the most anticipated upcoming game at the PC Gaming Show tonight, beating out a selection of over 130 titles.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is scheduled to release in Q1 of next year, and will feature a huge open-world and RPG-like storytelling. According to the CEO of GSC Game World, Yevhen Grygorovych, development is now in its final phase, with the team focusing on polish and bugs.
He said remotely at the event that "this game stands as the biggest and most complex game in our lives. It was ambitious from the beginning but evolved into an ultimate challenge. It holds extreme significance and a deeply personal connection for us, crafted amidst the most stressful conditions imaginable."
The award was judged by some of the most respected veterans within the video game industry, including Sid Meier, Tim Schafer, Cheyenne Morrin, Brian Fargo, Mariina Hallikainen, and Dean Hall.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S in Q1 2024. The game will be available on Game Pass day one, with pre-orders now open via the game's official website and on Steam and GOG.
