The publishing deal that Skybound Games and Beamdog have reached means that we are going to see some of our favourite games on the PC come to the Console arena this year! As of this moment we know that Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, and an all time fan favourite Neverwinter Nights are coming to consoles in 2019.
This is fantastic news for console players that want some tried and tested roleplaying games to come to the market and will hopefully generate some great sales for the two organisations.
Trent Oster, Beamdog CEO said that they are ecstatic in being able to partner up with Skybound Games and be able to finally bring those great classics to new platforms. I think the entirety of the fanbase for the developers and games above will no doubt echo his sentiments and even new players alike should welcome these games being developed for the console scene to ensure everyone gets to enjoy these brilliant games.
Ian How, Skybound Games CEO said the following of the deal:
These games are iconic, including Baldur’s Gate, which has really set the standard for Dungeons & Dragons computer roleplaying games. We’re excited to bring Beamdog’s incredible slate to new platforms for both the dedicated fan and those who will soon discover these adventures for the first time. As longtime fans of Baldur’s Gate and Dungeons & Dragons it’s fantastic to partner with Beamdog as the newest member of the Skybound family.
You will be able to see some of the games Beamdog have made at the Skybound Games booth at the end of March in the PAX East convention in Boston, so if you're going make sure you keep an eye out!
