Splitgate is a brand new first person arena shooter, and it's available for free now on Steam - and it's a refreshingly pleasing mix between Unreal Tournament and Portal, with some pretty heavy duty weaponry of course.
The launch trailer below gives you a flavour for the game, and it's quite unashamedly borrowing from the two franchises I mention above, among others. Jetpacks also feature, as well as other physics fun including low-gravity in areas.
Of course traditional weapons like rocket launchers and shotguns still feature heavily, so you really need to think on your feet - somebody could be coming from anywhere, anytime. It makes for a fast paced and tense arena shooter experience.
It's not for the faint of heart, though - if you thought taking a headshot out of nowhere was a problem in other FPS games, you've seen nothing yet. There's nothing more frustrating than seeing your attacker fly overhead just after your head has been blown off - and nothing more satisfying than executing such a manoeuvre.
The game is available now, completely free, on Steam.
