The creative director of Star Wars: Battlefront II (the new one, obviously), Dennis Bränvall, is departing the game's developer, DICE, after 8 years at the company.
Bränvall has worked on several games including Battlefront II since 2019, and prior to that Battlefield 4 in a range of different capacities. He had been promoted to the creative director for Battlefront 2 last year, after servicing as associate creative director.
I still remember when we first got the Star Wars contract and the entire studio meeting was filled with goose bumps and tears of joy. 8 years later the journey is over and I'm moving on from @EA_DICE at the end of this month.— Dennis Brännvall (@DICE_FireWall) November 10, 2020
Thank you all. May the Force be with you, always . pic.twitter.com/h4j9kRvICf
Battlefront II's last major update, The Battle of Scarif, had already been released earlier this year, but it's not certain if this is related to Bränvall's departure.
DICE is currently working on the next Battlefield game, set for 2021 - although Battlefront 2 isn't dead just yet, and indeed is proving more popular than ever with the community, thanks to various post-launch updates that addressed the game's early reputation for being 'microtransaction heavy.'
