System Shock has been getting a lot of love recently, with development studio Nightdive reviving the property with an upcoming remake of the game, in the meantime however, the Enhanced Edition has brought high resolution textures, assets and other enhancements to the game.

This past week, a new update to this Enhanced Edition, named The Source Port Update, has added even more new features to the game. The main new feature of interest to us is the addition of official mod support - meaning you can now install mods directly from the in-game interface, including the excellent ReWired mod we wrote about recently.

In addition to the official mod support, there's even more new high res assets added, improvements to the camera, and support for 4K resolutions, meaning you can enjoy the game in higher resolutions than ever before.

Also included is the ability to rebind keyboard commands, an upgrade for Direct3D and OpenGL support, and the ability to switch back to the original DOS assets if you're feeling a little nostalgic.

The update is free for those who own the Enhanced Edition, which is available now on Steam.
