The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's NPCs are still spawning new memes 18 years later

Perhaps one of the most fondly remembered Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion lives somewhat in the shadow of its younger brother, Skyrim, but nevertheless, it still seems to re-enter the consciousness of fans from time to time, thanks to its innate ability to spawn hilarious new memes, usually centred around the interesting and unintentional voice acting quirks and NPC interactions.

The latest was spawned by X user NotRollingTim, who posted a pretty astonishing clip from the game showcasing one NPC's rather bizarre call to arms while another commits what I can only describe as inexplicable murder. The whole thing just feels like I've been eating one too many space cakes, quite honestly.

Once the cat was out of the bag, players far and wide started sharing their Oblivion memes, both old and new. There's seemingly no shortage of quirky NPC behaviours to be found in the game.

The effect of these weird interactions is often bolstered by the game's weird tendency for NPC's to just immediately steal the player's control and zoom the camera right into their faces before beginning their dialogue, and frankly, it just cracks me up every time I see it happen.

Let's just hope this behaviour is still around for the rumoured remaster of the game that Bethesda is apparently working on, alongside a remaster of Fallout 3.
