There’s an art to ironic advertising, especially ironic hipstery advertising. The main thing is you want to seem like totally you’re not down with this whole consumerism thing, dude, while at the same time seem like this product is so above it all it doesn’t even matter. Buy it or don’t. Whatevs holmes.
When done right, you end up with something like the Dos Equis commercials. When done wrong, you end up with this:
One thing in this commercial’s favor: it is about as cheap as you’d expect for the price of the game. And it managed to annoy both my anti-consumerism tendencies and my hipster sensibilities. And I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to say I hated it before anyone else.
