Bad news for those considering trying Destiny 2 on the new Stadia platform, as Bungie have now confirmed that the "Stadia" version will be it's own ecosystem separate from the regular PC release.
This means that Stadia players will only be able to play with other people also playing via Stadia - and not with people who have a regular PC. There was no explanation as to the reasoning for this, however we have been hearing some details, although understandably not many, about the special hardware and software architectures that Stadia's servers will utilize - so it seems likely to be a bridge too far currently.
There's one small consolation, though, in that stats and saves will be interchangeable via the cloud on Stadia and PC, so that gives people options, at least.
The other good news is the game is going free-to-play on the Steam platform, along with a new expansion called Shadowkeep.
It'll be interesting to see if other games on Stadia face similar problems when it comes to crossplay, and the success of multiplayer games on the platform will depend heavily on uptake. Stay tuned to GameFront for more on this as we learn it.
