There’s a Red Dead Redemption Enhancement Mod in development

There was a rumour circulating, which we reported on to be false, about a re-mastered version of Red Dead Redemption coming to next-gen consoles and PC. Despite that not being a reality, it seems that there’s one modder out there who is determined to bring a re-mastered version of the game to PC anyway.

The Red Dead Redemption: Damned Enhancement Project is a mod that is now under development for the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game, designed to run in either the Xenia or RPCS3 emulator respectively.

While we don’t want to get into the rabbit hole of emulation and it’s moral quandary, with a legal copy of the game, this should be perfectly legal to do. The mod does promise that there will be new, high resolution textures, as well as an overhaul to the UI, higher polygon models, and new shader effects.

The game will also be modified to be more optimized for their respective emulators, so it will run better, too. It’s all being undertaken by one man, GamingDamned, although he is looking for others to jump on board with the project.

You can see some screenshots of the work in progress over on it’s official page.
