This Starfield mod fixes your interplanetary loading screen woes

By FileTrekker 2 months ago, last updated 2 months ago

I'm certain I am not the only one who finds interplanetary travel in Starfield to be a little bit frustrating. Outside of the occasional space battle or docking procedure, space flight largely consists of a series of loading screens, that require you to jump from system to system through the same, identical animation and loading screens. It's not horrific, but it's far from the romantic notion of interstellar travel and makes the entire universe feel small.

Enter modder 105gun, who has created the excellent SlowerThanLight mod, allowing you to fly between planets within the same star system without a single animation or loading screen. The mod increases the speed of your ship to a much-increased pace, which allows you to effectively travel around a star system without having to wait hours. The mod includes new controls to greatly increase and slow down the ship's speed.

While arguably the ship is travelling faster than light in order to cross a star system so quickly, thus being slightly lore-breaking, the fact is, this is just way, way more fun. The mod even includes a feature to allow you to reset everything, should you somehow manage to break the game. While it doesn't solve the problem of loading screens when grav jumping from system to system, it makes spaceflight much more enjoyable in the same solar system.

You can download the mod right here, and don't forget to check out our list of other essential Starfield mods that every player should install right now.
