Patrick Plourde, the director of last year’s action-packed open-world shooter Far Cry 3 has announced what may be the complete opposite of that game—a downloadable title called Child of Light.

To be published by Ubisoft, Child of Light is being developed as a 2D homage to classic JRPGs using Ubisoft Montpellier’s UbiArt engine, created for use with Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.

Using the powerful 2D engine, Plourde intends to build Child of Light to resemble the concept art of Final Fantasy titles rather than the games they became.

Speaking at a panel at GDC Europe (thanks Polygon), Plourde says that the game is set to be a cross between Limbo-style platforming and turn-based Final Fantasy 6-style battling.
