Ubisoft has unveiled the latest game in the Rainbow Six franchise – Rainbow Six Siege.
It’s been six years since a new Rainbow Six game was released (Rainbow Six: Vegas 2), and along the way, we heard about what sounded like a new game in the franchise (Rainbow Six: Patriots). While Patriots may have disappeared into the ether, Rainbow Six Siege is very much alive.
As you can see in the trailer above, Siege will pit two teams of players against one another – one as the hostage takers, and the other as the SWAT team trying to set the hostage free. The defenders will be able to fortify and reinforce their position with barbed wire, shields, and explosives. The attackers will be able to utilize a variety of weapons and gadgets in their attack, including drones, sheet charges, helicopter insertions, and more. Siege will also include procedural destruction, allowing players to blow holes in walls, floors and ceilings, creating new access points and entries.
We saw only six minutes of gameplay (embedded above), but what we did see looked promising. Check out the footqage above, and let us know what you think in the comments. Rainbow Six Siege is set to release sometime in 2015.
