Ubisoft CEO says cost of porting to Stadia 'not that high'

By FileTrekker 4 years ago, last updated 4 years ago

Some interesting insight into Google's new Stadia streaming platform emerged during a recent Ubisoft investor conference call, as CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that the process of porting their games to the platform won't be very expensive to do.

Ubisoft have a strong relationship with Google, being one of their key partners on the project. While there will still be some cost and work required to port the games, Guillemot stated that "he extra cost to put to make sure the games work well on Stadia is not that high", and that they now have the process built into their development pipeline.

It seems that Stadia is a bit of a mix between PC versions of games, albeit optimized specifically for the Stadia hardware, which will allow it to be much more performant and scalable.

There's already a prototype of Assassin's Creed Odyssey ported to the platform, which was seen out in the wild last year, and we can only assume most if not all other recent Ubisoft games will also be appearing on the platform.

Stay tuned to GameFront for more on Stadia as we learn it.
