Posted on October 22, 2012, CJ Miozzi Ubisoft Officially Announces Assassin’s Creed Film, Retaining Creative Control
Today, Ubisoft announced a partnership with New Regency to produce the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie.
Ubisoft’s film and television division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, will develop the movie in close collaboration with New Regency, but Ubisoft will apparently maintain control of key elements of the movie’s creative direction, which is good news for AC fans and bad news for lovers of terrible Hollywood video game adaptations. The development of a screenplay is beginning immediately and the project is being fast tracked as the creative pieces come together.
Attached to the film is actor Michael Fassbender, who played Magneto in X-Men: First Class and Lt. Archie Hicox in Inglourious Basterds. New Regency’s movies include Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Elektra, and Daredevil.
Video game movies have a reputation for turning out lousy — what are your thoughts on AC coming to the big screen?
