Posted on October 28, 2010, Phil Owen Uncharted Novel Coming in 2011
I kinda dig the Mass Effect novels. I’ve got all three on my Kindle, even. But those are the only novels based on games I’ve ever touched, and I only took the plunge there because, as I’ve said before, I am a little bit obsessed with Mass Effect and its brilliantly realized universe.
Of course, the appeal of Uncharted is not in the franchise’s universe but in the characters and the stunning “interactive action movie” way Naughty Dog tells the stories. A lot of the appeal of Uncharted, then, would be lost in an Uncharted novel, but, hey, that ain’t stopping Del Rey from publishing one. The book will be called Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth, and it will be/is being written by somebody named Christopher Gold, who the Del Rey press release says wrote a bunch of Buffy the Vampire Slayer books and even a couple Buffy games. Here’s the plot:
Now, in the novel UNCHARTED: THE FOURTH LABYRINTH, Nathan Drake will embark on an all-new, original, action-packed adventure—in search of a secret that will put him on the trail of the legendary labyrinth of Daedalus, and take him from the ruins of Crete to a secret crypt deep in the heart of China!
The book will hit in fall 2011. Hey, Uncharted 2 will have been out for two years by then, so maybe this book will be out alongside a new Uncharted game? Please?
