I had the chance to talk with Chastity Irizarry, the CEO of JC Media + Entertainment about some of their upcoming projects. I originally became interested in knowing a little more about JC Media when they organized a rally last month in New York for gamers against violence. This was a result of many individuals in the world blaming the Virginia Tech massacre on games and gamers. The primary officers running JC Media are Chastity Irizarry and founder Damon Scott. Chastity mentioned to me that the company was formed in October of 2006,
but has expanded rapidly and gained the attention of serious gamers all over. The founders of JC Media are military veterans, so I asked them if they believe military experience has helped them in their business venture. Being a 1st Cavalry Division/82nd Airborne Vet myself, I obviously value the leadership skills I learned while enlisted. Chastity explained, “â$¦We learn early that there is a mission and everyone has to play a role in getting the mission done. That is important in business. As is the teamwork skills you get in the military.”Their current project of concern is the â$ËœUnderground Gaming Series’, which kicks off Memorial Day weekend. Below is an overall run down on the Underground Gaming Series:
â$¢ The Underground Gaming Series is the premiere collection video game events run by gamers for gamers.
â$¢ The series kicks off in May on Memorial Day weekend and ends in October with a Grand Finale.
â$¢ Each month UGS will host an event in a different city.
â$¢ Each event features a wide variety of game competitions and contests.
â$¢ Guaranteed prize money will be awarded for the top 3 winners of each game competition.
â$¢ The top four winners of each competition per event will be invited to attend the Grand Finale in October.
â$¢ Everyone that competes in a UGS event gets UGS Points. The number of competitors in the competition that they participate in and their particular placing determines the amount of UGS Points an individual receives.
The following games will be featured in the tour:
â$¢ Gears of War
â$¢ Dead or Alive 4
â$¢ Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
â$¢ Virtua Fighter 5
â$¢ Guitar Hero II
UGS Tour Stops:
â$¢ Memphis, TN – May 26-27, 2007
â$¢ Richmond, VA – June 9-10, 2007
â$¢ Boston, MA – July 7-8, 2007
â$¢ New York, NY – August 18-19, 2007
â$¢ Washington, DC – September 15-16, 2007
â$¢ Atlantic City, NJ – October 26-28, 2007
If you are interested, definitely check out the Underground Gaming Series site. From what I learned talking with the CEO, it definitely looks like an exciting series that I would love to see last through the years. I like the fact that the events are run by gamers and JC Media takes a genuine interest in the world of gaming as a whole.
JC Media + Entertainment events are the best organized, promoted, facilitated and staffed events in the country. The founders of JC Media + Entertainment are gamers and have experienced the industry in its many facets. We are military veterans and as such bring a level of professionalism and discipline that is unmatched in the competitive gaming industry. Combined, the founders of JC Media + Entertainment have over 20 years of experience participating in, running, marketing, and promoting gaming events.
