Former EA CEO John Ricccitiello will be joining Unity Technologies as its new CEO.
Riccitiello’s new position at the company was announced today in posting on Unity’s official blog.
“I’m pleased to welcome John Riccitiello onto the Unity team as our new CEO,” said Unity CEO, Dave Helgason. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with John closely over the last year after I convinced him to join our board. It’s been a delight to see his passion for Unity and what we’re doing here grow as he got to know the Unity community better and better.”
Helgason also used the blog post to announce to confirm that would be stepping down from his current role as CEO, making way for Riccitiello and allowing himself “to get back to doing what I love most… connecting with developers.” He would go on to say that Riccitiello’s addition wasn’t likely to amount to any significant changes in the company’s direction.
“John completely agrees with out vision and our strategy,” affirmed Helgason.
Prior to his new position with Unity, Riccitiello worked served for six years as the CEO of Electronic Arts. Prior to that he worked as the publisher’s COO for an additional seven years. He stepped down from his position in 2013.
