Posted on May 16, 2012, Phil Hornshaw Users Bomb Diablo 3′s Metacritic Score Over Multiple Bugs
The launch of Diablo III has not gone well. Immediately, millions of players attempting to play the game seems to have destroyed Blizzard’s servers, resulting in numerous error messages that have kept players from being able to log in.
Head on over to Metacritic, where the game is currently pulling a user rating of 3.6, and you can see some of the vitriol customers are feeling at the slight of paying for Diablo III and being unable to play it. Of course, the issue is the always-on Internet connection digital rights management software Blizzard instituted with Diablo III, requiring players to be connected to the developer’s servers at all times — even when playing the single-player game. When those servers go down, the game becomes entirely broken.
What do you guys think? Have you experienced trouble with Diablo III?
