Posted on August 1, 2011, CJ Miozzi Valve Announces DOTA 2 Gamescom Tournament
While we already knew that Valve will be showing DOTA 2 at Gamecom, we now have confirmation on the suspicions of a tournament. Valve today announced “The International,” a tournament that will reveal DOTA 2 to the public for the first time, scheduled to take place August 17th -21st at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
The International features the 16 best DOTA teams in the world competing in the DOTA 2 Championships through a group stage, double elimination playoff format over the course of Cologne’s five-day trade show. The winning team will receive $1 million.
Looks like Blizzard isn’t the only big developer to support the eSports scene.
DOTA 2 will be available for the PC and Mac later this year. For more information, visit the official website.
