Posted on August 12, 2011, Phil Owen Valve Confirms New Counter-Strike
In the wake of the rumors flying around about a new Counter-Strike game, it must have been only a matter of time before Valve confirmed it. And they just did. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will make it’s way to Xbox Live, the Playstation Network and Steam for PC and Mac in early 2012 (Valve Time).
Here’s the line in the press release that basically gives us all the info on the game: “CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leaderboards, and more.”
Valve is developing the game, of course, but they’re working in conjunction with another studio: Hidden Path, who’ve been helping update CSS over the years.
And that’s what we know. If you’re heading to PAX in a couple weeks, rejoice; you’ll be able to play the game there.
