Posted on February 13, 2013, CJ Miozzi Valve Engineers Working on Next Gen Gaming Device Fired
Jeri Ellsworth, an Electrical Engineer at Valve, was fired yesterday. Gamasutra further reports that approximately 25 employees have been let go, affecting multiple departments, namely, hardware and Android development.
Ellsworth revealed the update in her employment status via Twitter, when she said simply, “Yup. Got fired today. Time for new exciting projects.”
As a Valve engineer, Ellsworth worked on hardware R&D for next generation gaming devices since August 2011, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Whether Ellsworth’s termination may impact the Steam Box is unknown, but doubtful; Xi3, a computer builder based in Salt Lake City, is believed to be working on that project. More likely is the theory that work on internally-developed input devices isn’t making significant progress.
