Posted on October 9, 2012, Ross Lincoln Valve Opening Hardware Beta Test To (Some) Fans
We all know that Valve’s first hardware will be beta tested beginning in 2013, but now it seems that the players themselves will be able to help you. valve has already indicated that they’ll be soliciting player feedback, but they’ve now confirmed that they’ll be inviting select users in the Seattle/Bellvue area to actually test out the devices personally.
“We’re looking for folks to come to Valve and playtest both released and unreleased versions of our games as well as play around with some of our hardware prototypes,” Valve’s Burton Johnsey said. To get in, you need to fill out this playtester survey. And if you don’t live in the Seattle area, fear not. “We’re looking for people local to the Seattle/Bellevue area, but,” Johnsey said, “you’re welcome to fill out the survey no matter where you live as we may have plans for remote playtests in the future.”
I’ll go ahead and speculate: Valve is a lot further along with whatever it is they’re creating than they’ve let on. Expect a reveal sooner rather than later, especially as at least one who makes it into this test is going to spill the beans.
