Valve has released Linux and Mac ports of the original Half-Life, available on Steam for $9.99. This means you no longer have any excuse to not own this game.

The Linux port, which is powered by the “GoldSrc” engine (a heavily-modified Quake engine), is currently considered in beta.

If you haven’t seen it, check out this tech demo from the original Half-Life, and be sure you haven’t missed out on Black Mesa, a faithful recreation of the original Half-Life with modern elements. You can watch a comparison video between the two here. Then, of course, there was that port of the Dreamcast version of Half-Life for PC
