Posted on July 7, 2010, Ron Whitaker Valve Reveals More Engineer Goodies With The Wrangler
Well, since we were talking about the Team Fortress 2 Engineer Update yesterday, we should really bring you the latest update on it.
Since the 50th Golden Wrench has been found, the second upgrade has been revealed. It is….The Wrangler!
The Wrangler will replace the pistol, and allow an engineer to remotely take control of their sentry turret. The turret won’t automatically select targets while you’re controlling it, but you should be able to handle that, right? Now, that’s not a bad deal at all. But what about the poor little engineer who’s completely defenseless standing there? No worries, Valve’s got you covered.
While you’re using the Wrangler, it creates a shield that absorbs 66% of all incoming damage. That should keep you alive long enough to bring the turret to bear on your adversary. But that’s not the only benefit you can expect.
Using the Wrangler will also double the firing rate of the turret you’re controlling. In addition, it will increase the missile launch rate at level 3.
All of that sounds great, but there is a downside. Once you switch away from the Wrangler, your turret will be defenseless for three seconds while it reboots, I suppose. However, if you take out all the enemies in a hail of lead, three seconds shouldn’t be that big a deal.
We’ll have more on the update once someone unlocks the 75th Golden Wrench. Stay tuned.
