Posted on June 15, 2010, Shawn Sines Valve’s Gabe Newell Announces Steam Support for PS3 and Portal 2

gabe-newell.jpgAlong with eating crow and admitting he was wrong about not working on Sony’s platform, Gabe Newell announced Portal 2. However Portal 2 was not the most interesting part of the conversation during Sony’s E3 presser.

What caught my ear immediately was his mention that the PS3 was going to leverage Steam tech like Steam Cloud for Portal 2. Imagine cross platform save games.. play on your PC and pick it up on your PS3 later. Nice!

Portal 2 will release the same time for PC, Xbox 360 and now PS3. Oh, and if you want more Portal 2 info.. well you can read about it in Mark’s impressions.

UPDATE: A follow up/clarification – Steam Cloud is not offering cross platform play, just auto-updates and community functions.. what a waste. I mean PSN already has most of that without Steam’s help. Sigh
