Netflix and Microsoft teaming up to offer streaming movies through the Xbox 360 never struck me as this mind-blowing idea that I couldn’t wait for. And even when it was first being announced at Microsoft’s E3 press conference last week, I was glad that I’d now be able to stream movies directly to my TV, but it still didn’t blow me away.

But with support to invite your Live friends into a party to watch movies (and it certainly sounds like they won’t need to have Netflix subscriptions), this could be tremendously awesome. Friends of mine that are off at college and can’t pay for Netflix or the cable bill, we can now watch movies together. It’s not the kind of feature that is going to sell Xbox 360 systems, but it’s definitely one of my most anticipated features in the new Xbox experience.
