Remember that phenomenal-looking mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that was remaking the world of Morrowind within Bethesda’s latest entry into the series? Work is still underway on the Skywind project, and a pair of new making-of videos will take you into the intricate process behind modding one game into another.

As the first video notes, the Skywind team has grown from just eight people at its start in early 2012 to some 70 members, including 30 dedicated voice actors.

It should be noted that Skywind is more than just a mod that puts Morrowind in the Skyrim engine with the help of the Creation Kit — instead, it’s as much an adaptation as a remake, with the modding team doing things like adding to the landscape to make it less barren, creating custom models for creatures and objects, composing new music, and more. Skywind bills itself as the most ambitious project ever undertaken by modders, and that seems like a pretty reasonable claim, judging by what’s on offer here.

Though it’s still being developed, you can actually download and play the Skywind mod in Skyrim right now.

Thanks, Kotaku.
