Posted on September 19, 2011, Phil Hornshaw Wait, Wait — No Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI on PSN This Week
Okay, so no idea what the heck’s going on over at the Playstation Blog, but Sony has issued a quick reversal on Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI hitting the Playstation Network this week — apparently, they’re not.
But the whole thing is rather… dubious.
So the Official Playstation Blog earlier reported that both CT and FFVI, which appeared as two separately bundled PSone games waaaay back, would be hitting the PSN this week. Joystiq picked up the story, as did I, because these are easily Squaresoft’s two greatest titles (and I’ll fight you in the comments if answer back with something dumb like Secret of Mana or Final Fantasy VIII or X [FFVII we can discuss]).
A little later, Joystiq updated its story based on an update from the Playstation Twitter account recanting the post about Chrono Trigger and FFVI, and both have been stricken (with actual strike-throughs) from the original Playstation Blog post right here. Here’s Sony’s tweet on the matter.
We’ve heard rumors about both games coming to the Playstation Network, but it appears this post is some kind of gun-jumping on the part of somebody over at the PS Blog. Which makes me thing that FFVI and CT must still be in the PSN pipe somewhere… right?
Sure hope so.
