Posted on October 1, 2007, Chris Warhawk Retail Price Drops from $60 to $40, Loses Headset
At some point later this month, you’ll begin seeing the PS3 exclusive Warhawk sold in stores for $40, as opposed to the $60 launch price gamers saw in August. But don’t worry, you aren’t being ripped off if you paid $60 – the original retail game packaged in a Bluetooth headset, whereas this cheaper version will only include the game. This price matches the game’s price on the PlayStation Store, which obviously includes nothing more than the game.
N’Gai Croal of Level Up received the confirmation on this deal from SCEA, but when asked if future AAA games would follow a similar model, Sony said they had nothing to announce. N’Gai goes on to speculate that future games like SOCOM will ship in a similar manner, with a headset, and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue might have a limited supply of bundles with a racing wheel. While I’m not so sure about the latter, I’d be very surprised if SOCOM didn’t have a headset bundle.
