Posted on August 8, 2007, davidm Warner Bros. Announces Speed Racer Game Adaptation
I’m going to try to not say anything negative. If a live-action Transformers movie can turn out as fantastic as it did, who says that a live-action movie based on Speed Racer can’t be as well? I mean the movie is being written and directed by the Wachowski Brothers, (Matrix Films) so chances are that “live-action” will not even play that big of a role. (The entire movie is being shot on a green screen.) It’s easy to dump on this as one of the worst ideas ever, but I’m going to reserve all judgments until I see it for myself.
With all the attention that the movie is getting, it is a shock to nobody that Warner Bros. has announced a gaming adaptation of the film that will coincide with the release. I’m sad to say that I am far more optimistic for the film than I am for the game, even tho the Wachowski brothers are known for having direct control over previous game titles based off their films. The whole thing is so strange, I really have no idea what to expect.
While there are no images from the game, here is some video from a recent press conference that shows off the talented cast and real-world Mark 5. With this cast, and Joel Silver behind it, could this be great? Someone check the local pig population, they may have started growing wings.
