Pandemic’s Scott Warner, the lead designer on Mercenaries 2 speaks with Eurogamer about World in Flames. Warner sheds some light on new content such as the ability to set up your own military contracting company and the new interactive hijacking minigames. New weapons and a whole new class of water vehicles have been added to the arsenal at the player’s disposal.Environmental damage was a huge factor in the first game and remains an emphasis in Mercenaries 2. Virtually everything but terrain and water can be destroyed. While most object will respawn over time, some key elements will remain destroyed as a testament to the carnage the player wreaks on the environment.

Online cooperative play is confirmed although there will be no official PVP deathmatch scenarios.

Warner: “Unfortunately Mercs 2 will only feature a co-operative mode, although you’re certainly welcome to emergently turn the game’s robust mechanics into a deathmatch against your friend at any time!”

Mercenaries 2 is scheduled for a pre-Christmas release for the PC, PS2,PS3, and Xbox360.
