Blizzard is gearing up for Heroes of the Storm alpha testing, but based a lengthy gameplay video Game Director Dustin Browder posted, you’d think the MOBA was already live.
Yes, Heroes of the Storm is already looking like a polished gem. But this is Blizzard we’re talking about, where “polished gem” translates roughly to “rudimentary concept,” so it’s likely we won’t actually get to play this one for a spell. In the meantime, we’ll have Heroes of the Storm previews and videos like this one to pore over, which actually provide a ton of info. For example, in the new gameplay video, Blizzard plays the Dragon Shire map/mode, which offers a new take on the classic three-lane MOBA match. See for yourself below:
MOBAs are already huge thanks to the like of League of Legends and Dota 2, but they’re set to become omnipresent in 2014 with the likes of Heroes of the Storm, Infinite Crisis, Strife, Dawngate, and more. It will be interesting to see how the new entrants tweak the tried and true MOBA formula to create new gameplay experiences.
