Posted on June 9, 2013, Ian Miles Cheong Watch Dogs E3 CG Trailer Leaked Ahead of Schedule
With less than a day for Watch Dogs to grace the Ubisoft stage at E3, a two-minute trailer has leaked out ahead of schedule. The trailer made its first appearance on Russian gaming websites, and appears to be incomplete – it just cuts off mid-scene at around 2:10. Perhaps this is a legitimate leak and not just an attempt to get ahead of the E3 PR cycle. If so, expect a takedown order soon. So watch while you can!
The video shows around two minutes of remarkably pretty cinematics. Hopefully this is cutscene and not just commercial-produced. Player character Aidan Pearce’s narration suggests he’s an Anonymous/Occupy Wall Street style hacktivist bent on doing unto others what they do unto, presumably, the people. In the trailer, he’s seen spying on a target and infiltrating their hideout with the aid of his smartphone—an all-access hacking tool, then blasting them to bits. We’ll see more later of course, but I’m pleasantly surprised to see the pro-privacy message so prominent, especially given the way things seem to be going.
Incidentally, am I the only one noticing the trenchcoat-wearing guy bears an eerie resemblance to George Smiley?
The game is slated for release on November 19 on all current-gen platforms. It’s also scheduled as a launch title for the PS4.
