UPDATE (11/26/2012): Fallout Lanius has exceeded its $10,000 crowd funding goal, and with a week left to go before its campaign ends on IndieGoGo, the team has set its sights on achieving its stretch goals. To celebrate, the team released a promising trailer and three great pieces of key art, below.
I admit that I am not a fan of fan films. Don’t get me wrong; I love the effort put into them and the promise that the people behind them might one day be able to put that effort into original works, or at the very least, break into the film industry and make a living doing what they love. Which is why I hold out hope that a good fan film is possible, a hope particularly stoked after reading our own CJ Miozzi’s interview with the creators of the in-production Fallout fan film, Fallout: Lanius
Set in the Mojave Wasteland during the New Vegas time period, Fallout: Lanius is about (spoiler) Legate Lanius. The aim of the filmmakers is to avoid the “usual fallout tropes”, and at the same time make something that feels genuinely cinematic. We approve, and hope they pull it off. Here’s a taste.
Yeah, the action looks the same level of bad as any fan film, but it is at least shot well, and what’s kind of cool is that they’ve got original Legate Lanius voice actor Mitch Lewis to reprise the role for the short. Here’s hoping this one turns out well.
