And die, and die, and then just when we think we’ve managed to finally defeat some hellish monster… nope dead again.
Hey, this is the Souls series we’re talking about, and now we know when we’ll be repeatedly resting in peace. At the Tokyo Game Show, From Software announced Dark Souls 2 will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 11, 2014 in North America, March 14 in Europe. The PC version will follow “shortly after” the publisher said, and knights of the keyboard should expect to get their hands on it before the end of March.
The delay, From Software said, is to allow the dev team to fully optimize the PC version, which has been in development alongside the console versions. In reality, we all know it’s an anti-piracy measure.
Publisher Namco Bandai also took the wraps off of the Dark Souls 2 Collector’s Edition at TGS and opened the pre-order gates. The boxed set features a 12-inch Warrior Knight figure, hardbound art book, and a full-color fabric map and it will set you back $120. Personally, I’d rather buy two copies of the standard edition and gift one to a friend, but hey, that’s me.
Namco Bandai noted that anyone who pre-orders Dark Souls 2, CE or plain old regular, will also receive the official soundtrack. Which, in my opinion, is a nice little pre-order incentive. Much better than a skin or weapon my character will discard after 20 minutes of play.
